Our recent Muster- a gathering to strengthen connections

On a cold and blustery day in July, more than seventy Landcarers and friends converged from across the Central Tablelands region at the Australian National Field Days site in Borenore, not far from Orange. Although the weather kept us huddled indoors, the mood in the hall was far from dreary, with a thrum of convivial conversation throughout the day. This was the first Landcare Muster for our region at this scale, and it was wonderful to have a diversity of voices in the room- including volunteers from local network committees as well as numerous smaller Landcare groups; strong representation from Local Land Services staff; partner organisations and of course Landcare coordinators from across the region.

Celebrating Biodiversity Month Across the Central Tablelands

September is Biodiversity Month – a chance for us all to celebrate and care for the incredible diversity of plants, animals, and landscapes that make the Central Tablelands such a unique place to live. Our region is home to endangered species like the Regent Honeyeater, Superb Parrot, and the Purple Copper Butterfly, as well as threatened ecosystems including Box Gum Grassy Woodlands and Snow Gum Woodlands.

Sustainable Braidwood launches new online hub with local stories and skills directory to celebrate and deepen community resilience

Braidwood NSW – Sustainable Braidwood, a subcommittee of the Upper Shoalhaven Landcare Council, has just launched a new online hub to celebrate local sustainability efforts and connect those in the region who are interested in making a change. Supported by the NSW Government’s Bushfire Community Resilience and Recovery Fund, supplied via Queanbeyan Palerang Regional Council, the intention of the project is to facilitate knowledge-sharing to help foster a deeper level of connection, visibility, and intentional action, with the hopes that community support continues to grow and strengthen through both good times, and hard times.

Lithgow Oberon Landcare Landscape Rehydration workshop

The NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) is dedicated to collaborating with landholders to boost and preserve biodiversity throughout New South Wales (NSW). Using funding from the Private Land Conservation Matters Project, Lithgow Oberon Landcare partnered with the Mulloon Institute to host a workshop dedicated to Landscape Rehydration, with the aim of teaching local producers how to manage water on their properties in dry times and control water and reduce erosion during wet seasons.
