Landcare Illawarra is a community-based organisation which helps Illawarra residents living in the 3 local government areas of Wollongong, Shellharbour and Kiama on the NSW South Coast to get involved in a broad range of environmental activities.
Landcare Illawarra supports local groups and community members in a number of ways, from delivering information workshops on native plant identification and weed management, gives community groups and landholders access to locally collected and propagated tubestock for planting projects, assists with project planning and new group set ups, insurance cover for volunteers, support in grant writing and administration of grants, and delivery of a variety of quality projects in partnership with many organisations. Projects range from biodiversity and connectivity projects, riparian restoration and on-farm conservation projects, to feral animal control programs.
Landcare Illawarra has a strong history of working with other organisations to deliver quality projects including local councils, other Landcare networks, Southern Rivers Catchment Management Authority (now South East Local Land Services), Conservation Volunteers Australia and most recently, Great Eastern Ranges.
