MCCL celebrates our First Birthday

Members and guests of Martindale Creek Catchment Landcare enjoyed a great night on Sunday November 29, celebrating our first year in operation caring for our local environment by providing information and education to our community.

Honey Locust Field Day

Martindale Creek Catchment Landcare held their first Field Day last Sunday, looking at control of Woody Weeds and focusing particularly on Honey Locust, Green Cestrum and African Boxthorn.

Nest Boxes Installed on Browns Creek

Several purpose built nest boxes have been installed in the trees along Browns Creek. The boxes are designed to provide nesting sites birds and small animals such as possums. Native animal often rely on hollows in old growth trees. When these are not available the nesting boxes can provide important alternative habitat.

Saving Simon

A recent Koala rescue has highlighted the value of the local Friends of the Koala organisation to our area and our Koala population here in Tregeagle.

Plantings in 2015

Students under the direction of our new Jr Landcare guide Ms Charlotte Watson have used Tree Planting Day to extend our plantings in the Black Creek Flood Plain

Who Stole the Hay Bales?

Anyone with information on the thefts or where the hay might be are being asked to contact Tea Gardens police, who are investigating the incident

The Buzz about Bees

Book in early for the North Arm Cove Community Garden Network workshop on native bees Saturday 11 October 2014 from 9.30am – 2.30pm with Megan Halcroft, of Bees Business.
