A tribute to the late Roger Bishop Good from the Geary’s Gap/Wamboin Landcare Group
This is a tribute from the Geary’s Gap/Wamboin Landcare Group to a valued member of the Group who passed away in 2015. This tribute was presented at the opening of a new children’s playground at the Bywong Community hall (Les Reardon Reserve) in Bywong on 16 December 2017 by long-term Group Convenor, Geoff Butler, on behalf of the Group.

Grand Opening of the Yass Community Nursery
Around 40 people braved the windy conditions for the official opening of the Yass Community Nursery on Saturday 30th September by deputy Mayor Kim Turner.

Old records blitzed by new research
One hundred people and eleven ecologists descended on Wombeyan Caves in early November to help improve the flora and fauna record of the well-known and loved national park. Hosted by the Kanangra to Wyangala (K2W) Partnership, the Wombeyan Bioblitz provided people with three days of opportunity to participate in wildlife surveys, looking at everything from orchids to birds, bats and insects.

Taralga Landcare appoints new executive
Taralga Landcare held its AGM on 18th October electing a new executive committee The group which formed in 1995 has had many long standing committee members over the 22 years and Kathleen Hartley has been the treasurer since its inception and has stepped down after doing a remarkable job over the years. Managing over $80,000 in grant funding. The new Taralga Landcare executive are Daniel Walsh (President) Michael Jacob (secretary) and Justin Maloney (Treasurer). We look forward to witnessing the new iteration of Taralga Landcare over the coming year. And a big congratulations and Thanks to the wonderful Katheen Hartley for keeping the group going over so many years.
Wombeyan BioBlitz - It’s time to nurture your inner wildlife scientist
Ever wondered what goes bump in the night? Ever wanted to recognise one frog from another? Perhaps you have a budding environmentalist in the house, or plans for retirement as a would-be field naturalist? Well, your opportunity to join like-minded folk has arrived. From November 3 to 5, the Kanangra-Boyd to Wyangala (K2W) Partnership is hosting the Wombeyan Caves BioBlitz, a 48hr marathon of expert-led flora and fauna surveys at Wombeyan Caves and Mares Forest.
Frogs Landcare leaps to the Nationals
The FROGS Landcare group have been recognised as NSW Grand Champions at the 2017 NSW Landcare Awards on Thursday evening. The awards, which were announced at the NSW Landcare and Local Land Services Conference at Albury on 26th October recognise the dedication, hard work and community leadership of Landcarers from right across the state.

Bowning and Bookham Landcare Group held a workshop on shelter belts at Alan Cole's property, looking at what worked and what didn't work so well in different tree lanes Alan planted over the past 10 years.
Burrinjuck to Bango Habitat Hops Grant
Bowning and Bookham District Landcare will receive $99,650 from the Environmental Trust to help establish 30 to 50 ‘habitat hops’ (tree plots) to encourage wildlife back to a previously cleared landscape and to protect box gum woodland remnants.
Hot Nighttime temperatures causing stress in animals.
In the unprecedented heat waves of January 2017, Cowra Vet Centre says pet owners and farmers have reported animals showing visible signs of heat stress. People are controlling heat through artificial air-conditioning and not empathising with the stress animals in the environment are experiencing.
